Westermo achieves ISO 27001 certification

Westermo has received ISO 27001:2013 certification for its development, manufacturing, marketing, sales and support of industrial data communication and network equipment in Sweden. ISO 27001 is the international standard developed specifically for information security management systems, requiring that a company uses a systematic approach to managing sensitive information and ensuring data security.

The certification confirms Westermo’s commitment to protecting its information assets and requires adherence to a range of disciplines, including access control, security, compliance, risk management, and business continuity. 

“Westermo has used security programs in its operations for many years, but the ISO 27001 guidelines help reinforce our objective of continuously raising our standards. Attaining the certification consolidates the trust among our customers and makes it easy for them to understand the systematic security approach we have in place,” said Gustav Isaksson, IT Cyber Security Expert at Westermo.

With over 45 years in the industrial data communications industry, security is ingrained in the DNA of Westermo. To achieve certification, the company's compliance was validated by the independent auditor DNV. Following a series of extensive audits, Westermo was found to be fully compliant in protecting its information and those of its customers in accordance with the highly-regarded infosec standard.

On the announcement of the certification, Niklas Mörth, Westermo’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) commented: “We are pleased to be awarded ISO 27001 certification since it illustrates our commitment to our customers, partners, and employees, and is a natural fit with Westermo’s secure and resilient solutions for mission-critical networks. Having been certified provides us with the confidence to continue driving innovation, knowing that all data is well protected”.

The new ISO 27001 certification complements the existing ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) certifications that Westermo already holds and has had for many years, continually supporting the operational excellence required for developing and producing the world's best industrial networking solutions.
